Moritaka Mashiro có tài năng vẽ nhưng lại bị ám ảnh bởi cái chết của người chú - là một mangaka (họa sĩ sáng tác truyện), dù từng có mơ ước trở thành mangaka nhưng hiện tại cậu chỉ nghĩ đến việc tốt nghiệp phổ thông, có tấm bằng rồi làm việc văn phòng. Mọi chuyện thay đổi khi cậu bạn cùng lớp Akito Takagi cố lôi kéo Mashiro vào cùng một đội để cả 2 có thể vừa vẽ vừa sáng tác truyện tranh, với tham vọng được đăng tải lên tạp chí truyện tranh nổi tiếng JUMP đồng thời có một bộ truyện gay tiếng vang trong giới mangaka học đường. Tuy nhiên, Mashiro chỉ thực sự đồng ý khi cô bạn Nana bảo rằng bộ truyện của cậu có thể sẽ thành công và được chuyển thể thành Anime, đến lúc đó, Nana sẽ đóng vai nữ chính trong Anime.
