Anime mới sẽ diễn ra vào năm 2020 và sẽ có một câu chuyện hoàn toàn mới tập trung vào Taichi Yagami khi anh học năm thứ năm tại trường tiểu học. Đối tác của anh là Agumon. Câu chuyện bắt đầu ở Tokyo khi xảy ra sự cố mạng quy mô lớn. Taichi đang chuẩn bị cho chuyến đi cắm trại mùa hè cuối tuần của mình khi sự cố xảy ra. Mẹ của Taichi và em gái Hikari của anh bị mắc kẹt trên một chuyến tàu không ngừng di chuyển, và Taichi đến Shibuya để giúp đỡ họ. Tuy nhiên, trên đường tới đó, anh gặp một hiện tượng kỳ lạ và càn quét anh vào Thế giới số cùng với DigiDestined khác.
